You Only Live Twice

We know nothing of his national career, but after he retired, his international career began. In the deepest heart of Europe, the German Black Forest, he got a second chance through a company specializing in renovation of military vehicles.

The old Chevy K 30 pickup was saved by a young mechanic, Markus Ritter, and his supervisor Eugen Eble. They decided to make this vehicle the rescue car of the ultimate European off-road adventure: The Croatia Trophy 2000.

The Trophy had always been the ruin of competing vehicles and their winches. Six days and one night of difficult tracks, requiring repeated winch action, hard work for the driver and navigator. Often it was too hard for the vehicles-those that couldn't reach the next camp needed a towing service.

Here came the Chevy pickup, equipped with an electric DC 200 Ramsey winch, solid like the vehicle itself. The truck happily survived the Trophy and is looking forward to the next one-just like the rest of us! See you in Croatia!

Do you have an interesting story to tell which involves your Ramsey Winch? Let us know. Contact Lisa Holden at lisaholden@ramsey.com or 918-234-2138. Photos need to be included with your story, but they don't need to be action shots. They can be of your vehicle in your driveway. (of course we would like your Ramsey Winch in the pic.)
